On Thursday, 23 January 2025, the Three Counties proudly hosted its annual Careers Fair at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern. This year’s event saw an impressive turnout, welcoming approximately 1600 visitors, included over 1,400 students and featuring 46 exhibitors from various industries, colleges and universities including Royal Navy, Army and Royal Airforce, Forestry England, EC Drummond Group, Worcester Sixth From College, Kidderminster College, The Bransford Webbs Plant Company, Worcester Bosch and many more.
New exhibitors for 2025 included University of Gloucester, The Orchard Munsley, SMH IT Solutions, Four Paws Groom School Herefordshire, iPet Network, RSK ADAS Ltd., Westons Cider, Morgan Motor Company and Hazelwoods.
The Careers Fair, generously sponsored by University of Worcester for the second year running and supported by the Royal Agricultural University, provided students from Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, and Worcestershire with invaluable opportunities to explore diverse career paths. Targeting Year 8 to Year 11 students, the fair focused on sectors including engineering and manufacturing, cyber security, land-based industries, tourism, horticulture, agriculture, food and drink and service industries.
Attendees had the chance to engage directly with employers to discuss potential career paths and the qualifications required, delving into the hands-on experience and career progression they offer and highlighting their apprenticeship and trainee programs. Local colleges and universities were present to discuss full-time study options, helping students explore academic pathways aligned with their interests.
Beyond student engagement, exhibitors found the event highly beneficial for networking with other local businesses, fostering new partnerships, and strengthening industry connections. Many employers expressed enthusiasm about the chance to identify future talent and inspire the next generation of professionals, making the day a rewarding experience for all involved.
One student experienced particular excitement after applying for an apprenticeship at Three Counties before attending the careers fair. During the event, a conversation with stand staff led to an unexpected opportunity – an interview with the Head of Operations to discuss the apprenticeship role. As a result, he was offered a role at the Showground.
Reflecting on the event’s success, Jayne Unwin, Education Executive at the Three Counties Agricultural Society and organiser of Three Counties Careers Fair stated, “We are thrilled with the positive response from both students and exhibitors. The fair continues to be a pivotal platform for young individuals to gain insights into various industries and make informed decisions about their futures.”
The Three Counties Agricultural Society remains committed to supporting educational initiatives and looks forward to hosting future events that benefit the youth and the wider community.
